What lead you to become a Nail Tech?

At the time I had small kids and was only working in health care part time, I was looking for a new hobby. My nail tech convinced me I should take a course and work with her part time. The practical side of me figured if I only did my own nails the course would pay for itself in 5 years --haha. I came upon the Fuzion course from watching Talia on YouTube. It went very fast from a hobby to having a full clientele in 6 months and was one of the best decisions I ever made. I work part time by choice now from my home salon and teach nail classes.

What do you enjoy most about being a mentor for Fuzion?

I love teaching people new things, breaking the steps down for them and teaching them the little details that often get missed but are so important. I also love the team atmosphere that Fuzion provides, I work in my studio from home alone so Fuzion provides me with co-worker relationships that I love.

Who inspires you and why?

So many nail techs have inspired me over the years. Through out my life would be my parents. My mom for always telling me I can do anything on my own, that I don’t need to depend on others to do something I want and encouraging me to try. My dad for being one of the smartest people I know, he left school in grade 8, worked extremely hard and went on to build a large successful company that can continue for generations. He was hugely admired and respected in his field of work.

What is your ideal work environment?

I love that my salon is my own space and only my messes to clean, but I do love working with other people. I have always worked beside co-workers in my other careers.  Most important is that each environment is safe, clean and I’m passionate about it.

Proudest career moment?

When I was asked by Debbie & Cheryl to work with their nail companies behind the scenes. It was a sign that my hard work made a difference and someone noticed. It was a huge compliment from two great business women.

What does being a role model and Mentor mean to you?

It means giving my best always so my students & peers can learn from me and respect me. It's a role that doesn't stop when the class ends, learning never ends.

What advice would you give your 10 year old self?

Life takes you in weird directions sometimes but if its meant to be it will be.

Favourite Beauty Product?

Lip gloss, I hate dry lips. Favourite Fuzion product is Extreme Shine, it’s my ride or die product.

Favourite Colour?
Teal & Purple.

Hidden talent?
Nail Tech is my third career. I worked as a Lab & X-Ray tech for over 24 years and as a EMT on the ambulance for 14 yrs.
