What lead you to become a Nail Tech?

I started doing nails back in the mid 90's when fiberglass silk wraps were all the rave! My Aunt was a nail tech back in the 90's and taught me a very basic way to do my own nails which turned into me doing my friends nails for fun too. Fast forward to when I turned 20... My other Aunt who is also a nail tech/educator needed someone badly to work for her. She trained me and I started working for her. I quickly fell in love with the creative high that I get from doing nails. I couldn't have fell into a better career! A seed was planted in me as a child and grew into my passion and obsession!

If you could do any other career, what would you do?

I really wanted to be an Art therapist for children.

What do you enjoy most about being a Educator for Fuzion?

I love working with other nail tech's. I love sparking creativity, love, and passion in their careers. Helping them to find their potential and bring joy to those already working in the industry. I also love the other educators. We can learn so much from each other and the friendships that come with that is also amazing!
Who inspires you and why?

I find inspiration in so many people! I don't have just one person that I look up to I feel like we can find inspiration in not only people but the things around us.

What is your ideal work environment?

I started in a Salon and then moved to my home after 2 years. Working from home has been the best gift I could of given myself and my children. My clients love the one on one connection and calm atmosphere to decompress and relax. I have a very neutral work space, clean, and organized. I am a neat freak and thrive in an organized space.

What’s your philosophy towards your work?

To never stop learning!
You can never know everything... In an industry that is forever changeing we can always learn something new and from eachother. I love trying new things especially with nail art! Our industry has come so far the last 20 years and will continue to move forward that you can never stop growing.

Proudest career moment?

-My proudest career moments were when I decided to invest in myself and continue my education in individual brands.
-Becoming a Brand Ambassador and getting to inspire others with new products.
-Challenging myself to become an educator for Fuzion! Stepping out of my box and working on making those connections to inspire others to also do the same.

A sentence or quote that best describes you?

Life is a journey not a destination.

What does being a role model mean to you?

Being a role model means a lot to me. I feel like you do not need to be just an educator to be a role model I find it very humbling when clients want to do what I do or friends and family look up to me and my sucesses. I love when other techs reach out to me with questions or tag me in their work where I was their inspiration.I hope that one day at least one of my four girls follow in my footsteps in the industry.

What advice would you give your 10 year old self?

I would tell her.. " It's ok to not be what others think you should be. You will be a light to others and a refuge for some who have no one. You will bring happiness to so many people."
P.s you will rock at doing nails work hard and get it girl!
